Barrister & Solicitor
Simon Walter has called Kamloops home since he was two years old. He graduated high school at South Kamloops Secondary School in 2007, obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria in 2012, and completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in 2016.
Simon specializes in Family Law and maintains a traditional litigation practice whilst also being a proponent of alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation. He believes all families should plan their futures in the event of a marital breakdown in the same way they ought to plan their wills and powers of attorney. Written family law agreements facilitate communication about what is important to each spouse and may avoid a relationship breakdown altogether. If his clients have made the decision to separate, he prioritizes cost-effective and efficient settlements that allow families to preserve their dignity, their financial resources, and the wellbeing of themselves and their children.
He is qualified to act as a Family Law Mediator in British Columbia and is an active member of the Kamloops Collaborative Family Law Association.
When not in the office, Simon officiates local soccer leagues with the Kamloops Soccer Referees Association. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (“KSO”), and performs with various musical groups in Kamloops, including the Cantabile Singers of Kamloops and the acapella quartet, Slow No Tempo.
